Job Description

Job Description

At Pilzer / Klein, PC, we focus exclusively on Social Security Disability claims. Our Intake Manager is the core of our practice and is often the first advocate for our prospective clients.

People call us during some of the toughest moments of their lives. We serve those facing severe physical medical conditions, mental health struggles, and/or extreme financial uncertainty. Your job is to take those calls, listen with genuine warmth, sort through medical and work histories, and quickly figure out who we can help under Social Security Administration (SSA) rules. We still want to give them a plan even if we cannot help them.

If you have a background as a Disability Determination Services (DDS) Examiner, a SSA Claims Rep, a medical clinic scheduler, or an insurance claims adjuster, you already know how demanding—and rewarding—this kind of work can be. We don't expect you to know every legal nuance on day one, but we do need someone who can rapidly learn complex rules independently and have energetic compassion from the first call of the day until the last.

Compensation:

$55,000 - $75,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do Daily

  • Evaluate Prospective Claims: Answer inbound calls, texts, and web leads from people seeking disability representation very promptly. Ask targeted questions regarding work history, monthly earnings, medical providers, and current medical treatments.

  • Apply Legal Standards: Learn and apply core SSA eligibility guidelines (work credits, SGA limits, medical severity) to independently identify strong, winnable cases.

  • Client Onboarding: Send electronic retainer agreements, collect required initial paperwork, and build accurate new case files in our lead system.

  • Work Directly with Attorney: Route complex or borderline claim profiles directly to the attorney for quick review and decisions.

  • Team Leadership: Manage 3 team members that handle initial case screening and phone coverage when call volume spikes.

Qualifications:

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong Background: Experience in SC DDS (Disability Determination Services), SSA field offices/teleservice, high-volume medical office scheduling, insurance claims adjudication, or legal intake.

  • Fast Learner: You can read through technical rules or statutory criteria and start applying them to real-world scenarios on your own.

  • Emotional Resilience: High empathy and strong compartmentalization skills. You can offer authentic compassion and pick up the next call with warmth and focus.

  • Tech Comfort: Fast typing skills and comfort working with CRM databases, phone systems, Microsoft Outlook, and other digital document platforms.

  • Ethical: You believe in following firm policies and will maintain confidentiality obligations.

  • Education and experience:

  • Associate's degree plus 2+ years of highly relevant experience (e.g., DDS, SSA, legal intake, or complex insurance claims) OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years of general professional customer service, sales, or office experience.

  • For all candidates, the ability to rapidly learn and apply complex statutory rules is mandatory.
